A WIN-WIN SITUATION

Updated: May 12, 2019

POTENTIAL EMPLOYER

A notable guiding principle for hiring of employees should be based on merit, suitability and capability of the candidate, regardless of the presence or degree of disability. Another important aspect is that the job or task appointed to people with disabilities should not deteriorate their disability. Learners with Specific Learning Disabilities can fulfil any task in the hospitality industry as long as their professional knowledge and skills fit those tasks.

Kenmont, a school for LSEN (Learners with Special Educational Needs) with the focus on Specific Learning Disabilities, prepares learners for careers in the Hospitality & Tourism Industry, the Wholesale and Retail Industry, and the Office environment.

Kenmont has produced many successful Chefs, Entrepreneurs and Employees over the years and boasts with an above 83% pass-rate for their National Senior Certificate candidates.

With the launch of the new Occupational Unit in 2019, Learners with more severe Specific Learning Disabilities will be equipped for the working world.
