let's Debate

Le'ts have our Say

Our learners from Kenmont School were invited to participate in a debating competition organised by the Department of Safety.

Mrs Anne Bonhomme  a Road Safety Officer came to our school and worked closely with the learners that were identified from Grade 10 and 11. She visited the school on various days to train the learners during their breaks. The learners also attended learner workshops at the Department of Road Safety office on 11 May and 13 July, accompanied by educator Mr Charles Kusner.

They then participated in the Regional Competition on 27 July at the Road Safety Office, accompanied by speech therapist Mrs N Jagaran.

Although Kenmont school was the only school in the Special Needs category, our learners had to participate against a school from the Urban category.

Our learners did exceptionally well on this occasion. They were well prepared, articulate and delivered their speeches in a well-presented manner. They received praise from the adjudicators and the audience.

The learners each received a framed certificate, a trophy and a tablet. Kenmont school received a framed certificate and  a trophy. The 2 educators each received a framed certificate and a trophy.

We acknowledge the following learners for their hard work, resilience, courage and positive attitude.

We congratulate them on their achievement:

  1. SIBUSISO NZIMANDE

  2. MIGEL RAMANNA

  3. MATTHEW GRIESEL

Provincial winners!

Our Learners are going to Nationals!!

On Saturday, the Kenmont Debate team won the Special Needs division of the provincial final of the Road Safety Debates competition held by the Department of Transport.

Once again, they proposed the motion “Youth are better drivers”, and the adjudicators were impressed with their eloquence and confidence.

The five members of the team were thrilled to win a laptop each, and excited at the prospect of taking part in the National Finals in Gauteng during the forthcoming school holiday. During this time, they will first attend a training session in Pietermaritzburg and then be flown to Johannesburg for the National Finals.

The school congratulates them and wishes them best luck for the final round.  Parents have given permission to publish the photos.
